Important Update Regarding Tariff Impact on Advantech North America Customers

Dear United States Advantech Customers & Partners-

It is our duty to inform our valued customers and partners that the current trade dispute between the U.S. and China is now going to have a tangible effect on the cost of goods.

As formally announced on May 9th, the rate of additional duty originally imposed in September, 2018, under Section 301, will increase from 10% to 25%, effective May 10th, 2019. This includes some of Advantech’s products manufactured in our Kunshan, China facility, except products with specific HTS code assignment that are not included in Section 301.*

More information regarding the tariff can be found here:

As a result, any of our products imported from China beginning on May 10th will be subject to this 25% tariff and the associated costs will be passed on to our customers in the form of a unit price increase.  Advantech will be responsible for paying the tariff upon arrival to the port as the importer of record, and we’re simply passing the additional cost to our customers.  Existing purchase orders will need to be amended to reflect the tariff.  The Advantech team will be working closely with our customers over the coming weeks to make these adjustments.

This is a significant escalation with very short notice given, and while these additional tariffs do put additional burdens on all of us, we hope that we can work together through this process to make it as seamless as possible.  Please discuss any questions, comments, concerns with your account manager, customer program manager, or inside sales contact.

Sincerely,

  Jerry O'Gorman
