Advantech's SFP (small form-factor pluggable) modules are compact, hot-swappable optical module transceivers for use in both telecommunication and data communications with a variety of transmitter and receiver specifications. They are especially helpful when you need a transmission service between destinations further than 100m where traditional copper cables cannot reach.

Distance When choosing the most suitable SFP module among the many varieties, transmission distance should be a major priority. For distances below 2km, multi-mode SFP modules are usually ideal. For distances greater than 10km, single-mode SFP modules are the preferred choice. Ethernet performance It is important to determine whether you need Ethernet performance capable of transmitting data at the 10Mbps speed level, 100Mbps speed level, or 1000Mbps speed level. For light data use, such as meter values, 10/100 should be appropriate. For video streams, gigabit is strongly recommended.
